Day wise itinerary

Day 01. arrival – paro -thimphu

  • The flight arrival into Paro valley is the first introduction to the spectacular beauty of Bhutan. At the airport, meet tour representative.

  • Visit the magnificent Musuem and Paro Fortress.

  • Then, drive to the capital city of Bhutan, Thimphu which takes approximately one and half hour covering the distance of 55 km.

  • Evening is leisure time.

Day 02. Thimphu

  • Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan is one of the beautiful capitals in the world, and is constantly nurtured by green vegetation.

  • Visit the Memrial Chorten, tall-structured stupa built in 1974 in memory of the third King of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, regarded as the father of modern Bhutan.

  • Drive to Changankha Lhakhang  (temple) situated at the top of a small mound overlooking the Thimphu valley.

  • Then, see the national animal of Bhutan, Takin and get the narration of the beautiful story about the magical creation and existence of these animals.

  • Drive to Kuensel phodrang, where the largest sitting Buddha statue in the country is perched on the hillock overlooking Thimphu valley.

  • Towards evening, visit Tashichoe Dzong, the power house of Bhutan.

Day 03. thimphu – punakha

  • Have breakfast early and proceed towards Punakha.

  • While driving to Punakha from Thimphu, the road climbs steeply up through pine forests at a height of 3,050.

  • Reach Dochula pass, adorned with 108 stupas.

  • If the weather is clear, once can see beautiful snow-capped mountains.

  • Upon arrival at Punakha, hike to Chimi Lhakhang, built in 15th century by the cousin of Drukpa Kuenley, and is best known for being the “Temple of Fertility”.

  • After the hike, visit Punakha Dzong, built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, situated between Pho chu (Male River) and Mo chu (Female River).

  • Spend evening at leisure.

Day 04. punakha – paro

  • After breakfast, take a short hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal temple.

  • Since adventure is an essential component of a traveler’s life, go rafting in the slow, cascading Mo chu (Female river).

  • View the magnificent Punakha Dzong with its beautiful cantilever bridge.

  • After the adventure, drive back to Paro.

  • Spend evening at leisure.

Day 05. paro

  • Early morning, hike to Taktshang monastery. Paro Taktshang is one of the most amazing structures ever built in Bhutan. It is a 2-3 hours walk uphill from the nearest motor road head and located at an altitude of 3,120 m.

  • On the way back to town, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the 108 temples built in the 7th century by the Tibetan King Songsten Gampo.

  • Spend rest of the day sightseeing and buying gifts for loved ones.

Day 06. departure

  • Transfer to airport.

End of tour.

Bhutan, a Buddhist kingdom on the Himalayas’ eastern edge, is known for its monasteries, fortresses (or dzongs) and dramatic landscapes that range from subtropical plains to steep mountains and valleys. In the High Himalayas, peaks such as 7,326m Jomolhari are popular trekking destinations. Paro Taktsang monastery (also known as Tiger’s Nest) clings to cliffs above the forested Paro Valley.
